Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) and Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) Partner to Strengthen Good Governance and Supply Chain Practice in Kenya
Kenya Institute Supplies Management (KISM) and the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS), today signed a collaboration agreement to promote professionalization of governance and Supply Chain practice in Kenya. The collaboration is expected to enhance participation of members of both institutions through development of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses on Supply Chain and Corporate Governance, provision of highly competent lecturers and course directors, course training materials, facilitation of the enrolment and administration of the certification trainings as well as play a role in advisory on matters of public interest that relate to changes in policy, law & regulations. Equally the parties committed to jointly engage in promoting research, publication and mentorship in areas of mutual interest.
The MOU was signed the by the Chief Executive Officers and Chairpersons of both institutions. Speaking during the exchange at KISM headquarters, KISM Chairperson Mr. John Karani MBS, MCIPS, MKISM, amplified the role of Supply Chain practitioners in promotion of good governance. The Chairperson of ICS, FCS Joshua Wambua encouraged the two institutions to leverage on the available policies and regulations to make a positive contribution to all their members.
Mr. Kenneth Matiba, MKISM, MKIM, MRISK, the KISM CEO welcomed the cooperation and underscored the need to be purposive in implementation of the commitment in the agreement in order to piggyback on the common areas and build synergy for effective and efficient delivery on the agreed areas of collaboration. Mr. Matiba stated that the teams must study the emerging trends and best practices in the industry and incorporate feedback from our members to enrich the collaboration.
ICS CEO, FCS Jeremiah Karanja noted that the synergy between the two institutions offered a greater platform for collaboration through peer review and sector specific research to enrich policy and regulation in the identified areas. This collaboration between KISM and ICS represents a significant step forward in building a stronger pool of skilled professionals in Kenya. By working together, we aim to contribute to the nation & overall development and a brighter future.
